French Fruit Crate

You may remember, a few months back I had a crate hanging above our island.

Well, just to change things up a bit, I took it down for a while.

But when I got this French fruit crate from Elsie Green House & Home, I decided

it would look great above the island.

This is a view of our kitchen that I rarely show…mostly because I feel like it’s kind of plain.

But, as you can see, we do have a nice amount of storage, even for our small size kitchen. The area beside the refrigerator is where I keep our small appliances…that way our limited counter top space stays open.

The gray door is our pantry. I painted the door in a gray weathered stain. I’ve always wanted to add a vintage screen door in it’s place, but I haven’t found one that fits just yet.

I love to hang small baskets and herbs from the crate. I have lavender and lemon balm…but I will probably add other herbs and flowers throughout the summer.

The vintage rolling pin also came from Elsie Green House & Home…it’s a beautiful online shop with French farmhouse antiques. And the white hydrangeas are from our garden. They look so pretty this year! I do love the white ones!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today…I hope you enjoy your weekend!

  1. Becky, plain can be a WOW. You just prooved it. There is no fuzz, no clutter, just a hand, that knows, what it is doing. You surely do know it. A raw look of the wood in your kitchen makes a perfect (really perfect) counterpart, and adds that special something.
Happy greetings from Méa, I hope you understand my English, as it is not my mothertongue

  3. Your kitchen is so beautiful and lovely! I think the screen doors on pantries are so terribly cute.

I really like your screen dome over the food in the photo.

    Happy weekend!

  4. Hi I'm new to your blog! Is your backsplash beadboard or narrow subway tiles laid vertically?

  5. Hi there, I would also love to know more about your backsplash. I have been planning to use beadboard myself and would love to know if it has been easy to keep clean, particularly behind your cooktop. Your kitchen has definitely been an inspiration to my own renovations. I look forward to your reply, have a beautiful day, Min :-)
