CHAPTER ONE
Hey my friends! I sure have missed posting lately….but I have a VERY good reason…After an entire life without a sister, I finally found mine! (even though we look nothing alike)
Do you remember Amy at All Things Home ? We met through our blogs…She and her beautiful daughters drove all the way to Louisiana…to see us!! We have been e-mailing and talking on the phone, planning this trip for several months.
Can I just tell you, spending a week with them was so much more than I could ever imagine! My family will never be the same…
We actually met in Dallas, and we cried when we met, it was kind of mushy…. we took our girls to the American Girl Doll Store. And we shopped at Lonestar Antique Mall and Pottery Barn.
Our families hit if off immediately. We began sharing our life stories and catching up on all the years we did not know each other. The kind of stories that bring tears to your eyes and make your heart melt.
Do you believe in Divine Appointments? You know, the times people come into your life at the perfect moment, when you need them the most?
And then you just let your guard down, you open your arms and heart with no holding back. Because you know only God could bring your lives together. Then you realize why…you realize maybe the whole purpose in starting a silly little farmhouse blog was actually way more than that.
That possibly the purpose was relationships. Relationships with people who bring joy, laughter, gentleness, and happiness into your home and depths of your soul. People you now call FRIENDS :)
We stayed up late watching movies, popping popcorn, playing games, and laughing until we cried. We drank coffee in our P.J.s, traded recipes and ideas, looked at blogs together,
And even went to Canton Flea Market!
Laurie Anna's Vintage Home, was of course our favorite :) Even though we were a little too late to hug Laurie Anna’s neck.
My goodness, you just won’t believe the incredible finds that Amy picked up on our flea market trip :) You have to check out her blog to see her goodies!
And now, it’s all over. They left our house this morning, and headed back to Tennessee, where their “boys” have been missing them dearly. And I must confess that I am a bit pouty today without them.
However, this time with them makes my heart so thankful…
Thankful for friendships,
for blogging,
for e-mail,
for summer,
for Donnie & Keith,
for Caprese Salad,
for Quelth,
for coffee,
for Canton,
for crates,
for chocolate chip cookies,
for cell phones,
for our Jesus,
for homeschool,
for cameras,
for Dallas,
for gifts,
and especially for memories…
And OCTOBER, because that’s when we are going to see them again.
Ok, thanks for hanging in there while I had to pour my heart out…
Stay tuned for Chapter two, about cooking and a cabinet :)
Have a wonderful weekend, friends
Blessings

This is just such a beautiful story. Beautiful. God is so good. And, he is in this technology too. I'm happy for all of you and for all who get to read this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story. I somehow "drifted" over to Amy's for the first visit and was then directed here and just found both of you sisters deee-lightful and the youngins too. Oh yes I can relate. My youngest son was killed just 15 months ago and I found some sisters or rather they found me through blogging and have become so close to. God directs if we listen. By the way I am in Shreveport. Where are you? XXXMollye
ReplyDeleteNot sure why I am feeling so sentimental today but reading this story touched my heart and it is so true that God brings people into our lives. Already I am meeting new people through my blog even just when I am out and about and excited to share about it with a stranger, its amazing the conversations you can have with people and think, Wow I was meant to meet this person.

What a fun story. I'm amazed at the wonderful friendships formed through blogging.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful post & a touching story! here's to years & years of wonderful friendship for you both! :) chris
