Hi there! How are you? Enjoying nice autumn weather where you are? We are unfortunately having record heat this week…it’s supposed to be 95 degrees today :/
I wanted to share one of my favorite ways of adding some farmhouse style to a newer home…we like to add vintage architectural pieces, such as corbels.
I shared a few photos of our vintage corbels in our Fall Home Tour Post HERE, and I thought I’d give a few more details about them. We found these extra large corbels at a local antique shop.
Attaching them to the corners, that is NOT the easy part. My sweet husband was so creative with the process. He used a ladder to hold the corbel in place while he used heavy-duty screws to attach them to the wall and ceiling. I tell you, he can do anything :)
We really like how the corbels turned out. This “alcove” area in our den/kitchen is an odd spot to decorate…and the corbels turned this space into a focal point. It’s a great way to add a little vintage charm to a room.
How do you add vintage charm? Do you use architectural pieces in your decor?
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!
Enjoy your weekend!
Blessings
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteYes I love the corbels too! They just add instant character don't they? I have some I use for holding pictures, come by sometime, I will be showing them in a post soon.
Enjoy Autumn, hope the weather cools for us here in San Diego too, I'm soooo ready for crisp evenings!
Best to you,
Gail

I love these architectural pieces, but never find them! They add so much interest and go so well with your other decor. Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. You are right- it too the nook from just 'being there' to extra-ordinary. Great idea and great job getting them in place. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! They add such a great look to your home.
ReplyDeleteLooks so great Becky. What a great idea and it really makes your nook unique and so amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove this.
Kris
Of course they can do everything - to be our kings ;))) They have to, hahaha
ReplyDeleteSo, today I learned a new English word: Corbel. Sounds sooooo funny in my German ears :)))
And they look adorable!
Happy greetings from Méa, who now nows corbels ;)))
I love every inch of your farmhouse style. I love the corbels. Your home has such character. I hope to have a house soon. Apartment living is not for me. I knew it was temporary but a real place can't get here soon enough so I can get busy putting it all back together again.
ReplyDeleteHey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
