Evolution of a Farmhouse

Hey my friends!
Today I'm joining A Style Evolution Party with Jennifer Rizzo.
I wanted to show you a few photos of how this little ol' farmhouse
has come to be.
Warning: some of these before photos are HORRID!

Here is our kitchen when it was dark like a dungeon.

Then I painted just the cabinets:

And here is the kitchen today, with fresh white paint on the walls, too:

Here is our dining room when it was dark, with no mantel above the fireplace:

And here is the dining room today:

This is our den when it had the dark paint and a hodgepodge of decor:

And here it is today:

This is my little workshop, which is also our homeschool classroom.
I'm sorry, I have no "before" photos. (Thank God)

And, there you have it!
I'm sorry if you've been around awhile,
and have seen most of the previous photos.
If you are new here, and you'd like to see more, check out the whole tour on
my sidebar labeled TOUR OUR FARMHOUSE.

Isn't it funny how you figure out your style
and your home slowly becomes a reflection of you?
On another note, did you notice the photo quality?
When I started blogging in June, I didn't know how to use my Nikon 5000.
I'm learning, and my photos have evolved along with my style.

I hope you are all staying warm and dry.
Stormy cold weather has moved into our area.
An inside day it will be :(
Blessings
Becky C

  5. Becky, Hi, I have been visiting your blog for quite sometime but am just becoming a follower. I love your home. My dream would be to let an old farmhouse own me. My decorating style is whatever I love. I love prims, but am also getting tired of the dark look, and am slowly leaning toward a more lighter and less cluttered look in my home. Thanks for sharing your home. It is such a ispiration to me. I have just started my humble blog. I have SO much to learn but if you ever have time drop by for a visit. Have a good day.

  37. Hi Becky! It IS funny how we morph right along with our homes, isn't it? lol! I know that blogging has certainly taught me so much about what type of decor speaks to my heart, and blog friends have walked me through alot of changes here in this old farmhouse.

Your house, however, is just BEAUTIFUL!! I can't believe the size of your dining room, girl! :) I'd love to know who inspired your style? Everything you've accomplished in each room is stunning. ♥ LUV!!!

  41. Oh what an amazing transformation, I love it, and very inspirational... it is remarkable how much of a difference a fresh coat of the right color of paint can make and then set the stage for the rest of a dream transformation to manifest! These photos are like those in decorating magazines, so props to you too for your photography evolution! I just learned how to make Mosaic Photos last night and I'm so jazzed now at how much of an improvement it makes to Banner and some Posts! Dawn... The Bohemian

  57. I absolutely love everything about your home! I'm on a quest to "find" my style at the moment. It is definitely going through an evolution.

My style is a little bit farmhouse, a little bit traditional, and a little bit rustic - not sure what to call it!

Nice to "meet" a fellow homeschooler!

  61. Its amazing what paint can do, I could not tell what color the walls were, your kitchen was so dark. Truly spectacular outcome in both rooms.

I too had a dark dank kitchen, white on the cabinets and cream on the walls. Makes me feel like cookin' now.

  62. Count me in as loving the changes also. I love a white kitchen and your dinning room !!!!!!!!!
