A January Table

Hey my friends!

Wish you could join me…

DSC_0991

I set a table, just for two :)

Perfect for enjoying a nice winter salad for lunch…

DSC_0980

I made a fancy little drink using sparkling grape juice, limes, and blackberries.

My hope for January, is to post about different ways to use vintage items when decorating or entertaining.

DSC_0997

So today, I used antique vegetable baskets as napkin holders.  The baskets give a nice rustic contrast.

A vintage spoon to serve blackberries.

You may have seen my antique ladder before…but here she provides a nice backdrop to display old bottles.

DSC_0987

I also tied twine around the vintage bottles and added lavender; using them as bud vases on the ladder.

DSC_0988

Mr. Buckets built this table with old reclaimed lumber.  I use it as a coffee cart in our kitchen. However, it can serve many uses :)

I painted it with a gray stain on top, added a white wash, then sanded.  The bottom is all white and distressed.

As a centerpiece, an old Ball jar holds the flowers, and limes line the inside.

DSC_0996

My craft for this tablescape was to stamp small pieces of driftwood with words “one” & “two”.  I attached them as labels to the glasses with twine.

I don’t know about you, but when I buy a fresh bouquet of flowers…I get inspired to set a table :)  That’s all it takes. Flowers.

  14. You are killing me! This table is FABULOUS! I love those little buckets and now you know that I want to get some of my own. I adore the stamped pieces of wood. I love the bottles on the ladder with the flowers, twine and lavender. The sparkling cider looks devine with the blackberries.

I TOTALLY LOVE the idea of you sharing ideas this month of how to use vintage items in our home decor. I will be waiting with great anticipation for each idea. You know that I am totally going to be a copycat, right?

  20. Love all your settings and especially the baskets with the napkins. I have a lot of baskets just like that but would have to find another use for them since there is only the 2 of us and we rarely use the dining room table...usually eat with T V tray in T V room..just one advantsge to being empty nesters and retired. I am going to have to put my thinking cap on now. I love the idea with your bottles and ladder also. Looking forward to moving this summer and hoping to find a home just a little bigger so I can display a lot more of my treasures. I love your blog and the name is very unique :)
    Hugs

  38. I completely agree about the flowers! Conversely, when I set a pretty table, I start looking about for flowers.

Fresh flowers are one of my very favorite things.

I found you through Amy K. She's a favorite blogger of mine. I can see why she speaks so highly of this blog. I can also see why you were featured in magazines. I absolutely love your taste and style.
