Hey my friends!
I hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas.
We certainly did.
Just spending time together.
I also hope you had a Joyous New Year's Day.
I took the week off from blogging, to enjoy time with my family.
You must admit, blogging takes some time.
However, do you know how to determine if you need something in your life?
When it's gone, you miss it :)
And oh, how I've missed you all.
So, I will be catching up with posting, leaving comments, and reading
all that I've missed.
I really enjoy all the friendships I've made with so many of you.
With a brand new year, I always get in the clean-out/simplify/organize mood.
Do you?
I want to throw away old stuff and only keep things that I love.
I plan to organize, regroup, and rethink the whole house and all of it's contents.
But I must say, there are more important things...
like the big picture.
I've been soul searching with thoughts of a fresh start of the new year.
What do I need to do to make this year better?
I need joy, laughter, fun!
Don't you?
Sometimes mom duties can be overwhelming, stripping the joy right from us.
Laundry, cleaning and parenting are not always joyous events.
Therefore, here is my motto for this year:
"Don't be dejected and sad,
for the joy of the Lord is your strength!"
Nehemiah 8:10
While getting back in the gym, eating healthy, organizing, and
cleaning out, are on my list of resolutions...
what matters most is having fun with the people I love.
Make memories.
In 2011, I want the JOY of the LORD to be my strength.
I'm committing to having fun
being the best wife and mom I can be,
caring,
homeschooling,
working,
projects,
giving,
photography,
cooking,
sharing,
reading,
building,
dreaming,
planning,
gardening,
loving,
blogging,
serving,
Because, after all, if it's not fun, why do it?
Let's have fun together!
Here's to a brand new year!
What are you committing to this year?
Blessings,
Becky C

What a great post, Becky! Happy new year to you and yours!!
ReplyDeleteI took a break from blogging too, I've had little computer access the past week. It was a nice break but I missed it, too!!
~michelle~
Your home (and your heart!) are so beautiful! Here's to joy!! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous post, and yes, I need to remember the joy too! Thanks from one Becky to another :).
ReplyDeleteI took a nice break as well. It was needed. We spent the last two weeks playing, watching 24 marathons, eating, sleeping in and just enjoying family time. It has been grand.
ReplyDeleteI am committing to making sure to spend quality time with my family this year. Our son is a senior and will be going to a community college for the first two years, but it's still going to be a major change. This change is one I am praying for peace with. I am a mommy who is not ready to give up her children.
Loved reading what is in your heart. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome back, Becky!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to do things this year that I've never done before. Because I know the more I grow, the more I CAN grow.
Here's to a wild 2011 ride for all! :)

Blogging is time consuming, but it is so rewarding, but sometimes we just have to take a break.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your beautiful photos of your home and your vingettes. I feel so inspired just looking at everything. I love the idea of the wreath over the vintage window. I might have to borrow that one! Love it all.

Everything looks just beautiful. You are right about it being time consuming but I love it so. You just have to follow what's good for you and your family and if there are times you need a break from it, don't feel guilty. We'll be here when you return. Have a great New Year, T

ReplyDeleteLike you, this time of the year I spend thinking of all I hope to do and change in my life, starting with my home. I'll be doing a little editing of my possessions also. It always feels so good and give the house a fresh outlook.
Hi Becky - You are an inspiration to us all, design and emotion! Looking forward to more of your inspiring posts this year.
